Due to a glitch with our school scanner, I haven’t been able to upload the clips from our newest showcasing in The Greenville News. Here you go! Great job, guys!
Eli and Dr. Pulver
Veteran’s Day with Lt. Thornton

It was amazing! It fit in perfectly with our Core Knowledge standards and gave us a sneak peek at next year’s Renaissance unit. We highly recommend it, if you are interested!

Wow. Yesterday we had the absolute BEST time while visiting Upstate Cardiology. They treated us like royalty! When we arrived, we had many nurses and assistants give us a special tour of the office. Then…..several of us were able to have Echo-Cardiograms (Echos). It was awesome! We got to see Eli’s and Darby’s hearts…and see [...]

Yesterday, we took our second trip to Senior Action.  During this visit, we spent the entire time interviewing our senior friends. It was so neat! We learned about how different life was when they were our age…especially considering many of them were born during the Great Depression! We learned that some of them were not [...]

Mrs. Self was absent on Monday. She was in Columbia seeing her husband (our favorite red head) get sworn into the South Carolina Bar Association.  After three years of law school and one really huge exam….Mr. Self was able to participate in this beautiful ceremony. Congrats, Thomas! We are so proud of you! Love, Mrs. [...]

If you are able, please pick up a copy of the November 13, 2009 Greenville Journal. In the “Schools” section you will see a great picture of Eli with Dr. Pulver.  Please send any extra copies our way! THANKS! Great job, Eli!

In 1953, a shoe store owner named Al King had an idea: the holiday should honor all veterans…not just those of WWI.  He pushed for his idea, and President Eisenhower signed the bill into [...]

A German proverb says, “The oldest trees often bear the sweetest fruit.” We began to truly understand the meaning of this as we began our newest service learning project: This is Your Life.  For our service learning project, we have paired up with Senior Action, an organization that promotes active and healthy living opportunities and [...]

Mrs. Latham’s second graders are working hard to make the world a better place. They have organized a food drive to benefit Harvest Hope.  They even arranged for a speaker, Cool Can Sam, to visit all of the Palmetto Prep students and discuss the issue of hunger.  To find out more, please visit Mrs. Latham’s [...]

Here are more pictures from Dr. Pulver’s visit last week:

On Friday, we had the distinct honor of hosting Dr. Aaron Pulver as our guest lecturer.  Dr. Pulver is a pediatric cardiologist in Asheville, NC. He has a very long list of accomplishments (which we don’t have time to get into….but just know that he’s really, really smart), and took the time to drive down [...]
