Homework Policies and Procedures
ALL homework is collected on FRIDAYS!
Due Date:
· Fridays
*Note: Some school weeks are abbreviated due to conferences or holidays. During such weeks, homework is administered on the first day of the week, and is due on the last. Homework will be appropriately portioned and modified to fit the length of the school week.
Parent Involvement:
· Parents are encouraged to assist with (but not do) their children’s homework.
· Homework must be completed by the students.
· Parents are responsible for initialing each homework assignment.
· If parents do not sign each assignment, full credit will not be issued.
What to Expect Each Week:
· Reading:
One take home quiz, which can be completed “open-book” **
20 Minutes of daily reading, which must be documented and initialed on the reading log*
· Math:
4-5 Homework Sheets for Saxon *
One bonus / extra credit worksheet **
· Social Studies and Science:
Approximately 10-15 pages of reading in the Core Knowledge Book *
Research assignments *
· Writing:
Write one article of your choice for our flier (this is due on Thursday of each week) *
· Spelling:
Complete the spelling activities*
Complete the Some Words vocabulary activities *
Tests are administered every Friday for Spelling and Vocabulary
*These assignments will be checked for completion and parent signatures.
**These assignments will be graded
Note: Homework will be averaged, and a grade will be administered for progress reports and report cards. Failure to complete more than four (4) weeks worth of homework will result in an automatic failure for the homework grade. Such cases will be referred to the director of the Primary School for disciplinary action.
