Reflections
Every year, I am blessed with wonderful feedback from my children’s parents. Below you will see a small snapshot of some of their thoughts regarding my teaching style. It is my desire that every child feels as if he/she is my “Number One” student!
“For lack of any other terms, we absolutely love Mrs. Self…She has reached inside our son and discovered so many hidden talents…She encourages students during times of struggle and praises their success. “As a parent, I was amazed to see the transformation in my little girl under Mrs. Self’s care. My child had problem sin the past with impulse control and struggling to stay on task. Mrs. Self developed a self-discipline program that encouraged children to take responsibility for their choices. This approach was the key to unlock the door to self-control for my daughter. Mrs. Self’s enthusiasm for learning, and her ability to inspire the kids to reach beyond themselves, is what made her class such an amazing year for my daughter. She began reading ravenously. She devours books in record time, with sensational recall. She writes all the time, saying things like ‘Mrs. Self called me a WRITER…’ Mrs. Self takes personal interest in each child, and did a fantastic job of making my daughter feel empowered, confident, and (most importantly), LOVED. I am struck with the sense that I have never met a more loving, caring, dedicated teacher than Mrs. Self.” -Kendra B.
“The result of Mrs. Self’s heart joined with her energy (and spirit) is a captive audience of children listening to one who cares. Each one believes they are her favorite. Each one of the children knows that she loves them. She shows them love through hugs, praise, and interest in their ideas and their life. Life lessons are given through weekly award ceremonies, pictures displayed of she and the children, attendance to their events outside of shcool, and most importnaly, through example. Mrs. Self prides herself in her role as teacher. She wants to be the best. Coupled with a heart for each child, it is a winning year.” -Jennifer R.

“It is amazing to see the the attention Mrs. Self gives each student. She teaches from her heart. When you see her interact with the students, you can tell she wants the best for each one of them. She is a great role model for the kids. They want her approval, which, in my opinion, makes them try harder each day. She makes learning fun for the kids.
